Trailer Safety Campaign launched by RTA 

RTA Dubai has launched the ‘Trailer Safety’ campaign to inspect heavy vehicles for safety and licensing issues. Over 2,600 checks have led to 134 faults and 88 violations, aiming to boost road safety and awareness. In addition, 2,638 field inspections of trailers and semi-trailers have been carried out at major roads such as the Emirates Road. 

RTA Streamlines 33 Driver Licensing Services into 15 for Better Integration

RTA has streamlined its driver licensing services through a smart, unified platform. The authority has reduced them from 33 to 15, making up about 53% of total services. The initiative simplifies processes like licence renewal, updates and replacements, all done online to boost speed, ease and customer satisfaction.

RTA’s New Driver Training and Licensing Facility Opened in Hatta

The RTA has opened a new branch of Emirates Driving Institute in Hatta. It will provide driver training and licensing services for local residents and nearby communities. The facility offers both practical and theoretical driving tests, with licensing available for motorcycles and light vehicles.

Vehicle Inspection Appointment Booking Service Now Available on the RTA Dubai App

Starting 2nd June 2025, RTA has made vehicle inspection appointment booking mandatory through the RTA Dubai app and website. Walk-in visits will still be allowed at 19 centres for an extra AED 100. Also, eight centres will offer inspections by appointment only. 

Phase one Air-conditioned marine stations in Dubai Marina reach completion

RTA has completed the first phase of upgrades to its marine transport stations in Dubai Marina. Five key stations: Marina Promenade, Marina Terrace, Marina Walk, Marina Mall and Marina Mall 1, now feature fully air-conditioned waiting areas with free Wi-Fi, real-time schedule displays and audio announcements. 

RTA rolls out on-demand ‘Bus Pooling’ across Dubai

Upgrade of Umm Suqeim Street and Al Qudra Road to Enhance Traffic Flow and Connectivity

RTA has launched a project to upgrade Umm Suqeim Street from Jumeirah Street to Al Khail Road to ease traffic and improve connectivity. The project includes building bridges, tunnels, wider roads and new walking and cycling tracks, with links to Dubai Metro stations and surrounding communities.. Alongside this, RTA is upgrading key intersections and expanding Al Qudra Road, adding new bridges and service roads to boost access to nearby developments.

Al Warqa Gets a New Entry and Exit Point from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road

RTA will open a new entry and exit point to Al Warqa from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, improving access and cutting travel time from 20 minutes to just 3.5 minutes. The project will handle 5,000 vehicles per hour and reduce trip distances significantly. RTA has also upgraded Street 13 in Al Warqa 1 as part of an 8 km internal road development to ease traffic and improve daily mobility.

RTA Buses Now Cover 88% of Dubai 

Dubai has enhanced its RTA bus network using smart systems and AI, boosting efficiency and service quality. With 1,390 buses covering 88% of the emirate, ridership hit 188M in 2024. Also, new dedicated lanes and route updates aim to cut travel time and increase public transport use.

RTA to Launch 79th Online Auction for Exclusive Number Plates

Meanwhile, on Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed International Road (E11), the limit has been reduced from 160 km/h to 140 km/h. Motorists are urged to comply with the new limits for safer travel.

Abu Dhabi Police Launches Don’t Hesitate – Give Way Immediately awareness campaign 

Abu Dhabi Police, together with the Civil Defence Authority and partners, has launched a six-month campaign called ‘Don’t Hesitate – Give Way Immediately’. It will encourage drivers to let emergency vehicles pass quickly. The campaign also uses media and outreach to teach drivers about the laws and Abu Dhabi traffic fines related to giving way.

Abu Dhabi Police has imposed a fine of AED 1,000 and six black points for overtaking from the hard shoulder. The law is in line with Article 42 of the Federal Traffic Law. As per the police, the hard shoulder is only restricted to emergency vehicles.
