Organised by The Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, the championship for cycling in the UAE fosters a shared commitment to health, unity and the pursuit of overall well-being. The Al Salam Championship, 10th edition, will be held under the slogan ‘Ten Years of Achievements and Success’.
Al Salam Championship Dates and Races
Four main races have been approved for the 10th edition of the Al Salam cycling event 2025. The details are as follows:
Emirati Amateur Men Race – 28th December 2025
Set in the heart of the Al Marmoom Desert, a known off-roading trail in Dubai, the race brings together riders from across the nation to take on a challenging course surrounded by striking natural landscapes. It’s a test of endurance, focus and resilience. The race offers a memorable experience shaped by the spirit of community and the quiet intensity of the desert.
Event Terms and Conditions
- Participation is limited to individuals of UAE nationality.
- Participants must be 19 years of age or older.
- Bicycles must weigh a minimum of 6.8 kilograms.
- Each rider must wear two race numbers on the lower back and one on the bicycle.
- Directional signs indicating the start, covered distances, and remaining distances will be displayed along the race route.
- Tyre, wheel, or bicycle replacements, or waiting for a dropped or injured teammate, are only allowed among members of the same team.
- Pushing between riders is strictly prohibited and will lead to disqualification.
- Riders are allowed to exchange food or drinks during the race.
- Support vehicles must be positioned on the side of the road opposite the wind direction and within a 50-metre range.
Elite Race – 18th January 2026
The Elite Race is a key event in the Al Salam Championship and one of the region’s largest cycling races. It brings together amateur riders, professional athletes from the UAE and GCC and a select group of international competitors.
Each edition of the race starts at a different landmark in Dubai. These starting points highlight the city’s cultural, historical or economic significance. The route continues toward Al Qudra in the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve. It combines the natural desert landscape with the intensity of competitive cycling.
Event Terms and Conditions
- Participation is limited to Emirati amateurs, national team players, UAE residents with valid residency, and national team players from GCC countries.
- Participants must be 19 years of age or older.
- The bicycle must weigh no less than 6.8 kg.
- Each rider must wear two race numbers on the lower back and one number on the bicycle.
- Signboards indicating the race start, distance covered and remaining distance will be placed along the race route.
- Replacement of tyres, wheels or bicycles is allowed, as well as waiting for a teammate who has crashed or been involved in an accident (only within the same team).
- Pushing between riders is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.
- Riders may exchange food and beverages during the race.
- Support vehicles must be positioned on the roadside opposite the wind direction and within a 50-metre range.
Women’s Race – 25th January 2026
Al Salam women’s race in Dubai is a key event in the Al Salam Championship, highlighting the strength and determination of female cyclists. It includes various categories for both amateurs and professionals, with participants ranging from Emirati cyclists and UAE residents to national team riders from GCC countries. In the Al Salam championship in Dubai 10th edition, the race will take place over two days – January 31 to February 1, 2026. The extended format adds new challenges and a more demanding course.
