Colonel Khalid Mohammed Al-Ki added that the new plates feature artistic elements for improved aesthetics. New patrol cars with Facial Recognition System Unveiled by Sharjah Police 

Sharjah Police has introduced an advanced facial recognition system in patrol cars to enhance criminal investigations and operational efficiency. Equipped with AI-powered smart cameras, the system analyses data in real time and is linked to police databases for instant identification. If a match is found, authorities are alerted immediately. 

In addition, the system will first be tested in a trial phase before upgrades. RTA has built 40 air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders in key locations across the emirate. This initiative aims to enhance road safety, improve riders’ quality of life and provide comfort while they wait for new orders. The project aligns with Dubai’s Traffic Safety Strategy, which targets ‘Zero Fatalities’ and reinforces road safety for all users.

The rest areas are designed to minimise sun exposure, provide effective insulation and ensure clear visibility. Each facility accommodates up to 10 riders and includes designated motorcycle parking. Locations were selected based on demand and coordination with delivery companies, covering areas like Hessa Street, Barsha Heights, Al Karama, Jumeirah, Business Bay, Dubai Marina and more.
