Participating in one of the global crowd-pulling tech events, RTA Dubai stood out with a distinctive exhibition stand. The event started on October 14 and will wrap up on Oct 18, 2024. The different exhibitions of GITEX are planned for two venues: Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai Creek Harbour.

RTA smart projects at GITEX Global 2024 are plenty. The authority is displaying an array of smart initiatives, facilitating transportation and urban infrastructure in Dubai. For instance, the authority is introducing biometric scanning for Dubai Metro and other transportation services fare payments.

In terms of public transport innovations, RTA also exhibits the multi-use of nol card in Dubai. Similarly, the authority is also working on various AI-powered projects for vehicle number plate price prediction. Similarly, AI is also envisioned to monitor electricity and water consumption at Dubai metro stations. 

Besides AI innovations by RTA at GITEX 2024, the authority also introduced a range of smart services. The concept of a smart station has also been displayed. These proposed RTA platforms will have smart screens, offering a range of services for commuters and bikers. There will also be an implementation of predictive technologies. This will allow more managed ridership across metro carriages and other means of public transport in Dubai.

Other Smart Projects by RTA at GITEX Dubai 2024

Emphasising the importance of UAE speed limits and motorists’ safety, the Green Road system for driver alerts has also been introduced. The authority is also working on virtual reality-based inspections for bus maintenance and the concept of crack detection using microwave technology. RTA has also showcased its First and Last-Mile Initiative for Sustainable Transport. The blueprint of this advanced concept is based on an efficient, driverless public transport system. 

Furthermore, RTA capitalises on another innovative and interactive approach based on the latest tech. Utilising the data and services powered by advanced technologies and the metaverse, motorists and commuters will soon be able to explore around Dubai. The entire city and RTA’s wide-ranging transportation database will be digitally accessible via the metaverse on the Apple Vision Pro. 

Visitors can explore and learn about all the 18 smart initiatives through the RTA Dubai app, website, the S’hail app, and smart kiosks spread across the city.
