RTA has teamed up with Dubai Police to launch various inspection campaigns for overloaded heavy vehicles on key roads in Dubai. The main networks where a large flow of heavy trucks has been observed include Al Maktoum International Airport Road, Ras Al Khor Road, Dubai Al-Ain Road, Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, Al Khail Road and Emirates Road. 

These initiatives are part of RTA’s year-round strategic plans. They will help improve traffic safety and raise awareness of the dangers of protruding and overloaded cargo.

Two New Marine Transport Lines for Dubai Creek Marina

Another prominent UAE autos news from July 2024 is the launch of two new marine transport lines for Dubai Creek Harbour. This initiative is in line with the RTA’s Marine Transport Master Plan 2020–2030 and will connect the popular tourist destinations in the city. 

Moreover, the first line runs between Dubai Creek Harbour and Dubai Festival City on weekends from 4:00 pm to 11:55 pm. The fare for a single stop costs only AED 2

3D Printed Abra Tested in Dubai Waters 

The world’s first 3D-printed Abra in Dubai also made headlines in July 2024. Currently, in a trial phase, it is the world’s first electric abra that uses 3D printing technology. It will run its trial operation on the Sheikh Zayed Road Marine Transport Station. 

The Abdra draws power from two 10-kilowatt motors alongside lithium batteries. In addition, the 3D-printed Abra aligns well with RTA’s vision for marine transport in Dubai. The project also involves the upgrade and completion of four abra stations in the megacity.

83% of Taxis in Sharjah are Hybrid Vehicles 

Sharjah taxis aim to go 100% eco-friendly by 2027. As a part of this goal, they currently have 83% hybrid and eco-friendly vehicles in their fleet. This addition of sustainable vehicles is in line with the objectives of reducing carbon emissions in the UAE. 

Geely Tugella Joins Dubai Police Fleet

Yango Announces Tesla Cybertruck Rental in UAE 

Yango users in the UAE can now rent the Tesla Cybertruck with only a few simple taps via the Yango app. Depending on the model, the rental rates for the Cyberstuck begin at AED 2,800.

This addition to the Yango rental fleet sits well with the UAE’s goal to become a leader in smart intermodal mobility by 2030. Moreover, to rent the Cybertruck, you must be at least 23 years old. You should also have a valid licence with at least a year of driving experience.
